“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20
For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. So therefore, anyone of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple. - Luke 14:28-33
Job Purpose:
To make disciples by building a team of disciple-making ministry partners to reach the college campus. College students are strategically located to become committed disciples of Christ who in turn reach others, while many churches and individuals are not strategically located to invest in them. Our primary need is for more fully-funded staff to allow us to reach more campuses and more students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ to students, DiscipleMakers staff, donors, and others who are in contact with DiscipleMakers.
Laboring on the Candidate Staff team
Each Candidate Staff serves under the supervision of one or more fundraising mentors as well as a team leader.
Each Candidate Staff is responsible for raising a determined amount of financial support for DiscipleMakers while also encouraging and challenging their teammates to do likewise.
Each Candidate Staff will be assigned secondary objectives by their team leader and mentor to help them raise the financial support for DiscipleMakers more effectively.
Fundraising
Each Candidate Staff must raise funds for their ministry with DiscipleMakers before they are promoted and become either Campus Staff or Headquarters Staff.
Each Candidate Staff is assigned a support goal that they will meet by inviting individuals and churches to partner financially in their ministry with DiscipleMakers.
Financial donors are recruited by Candidate Staff:
Contacting prospective partners
Setting up appointments to meet with prospective partners.
Using appointments to get to know the prospective partners, to share about the gospel and DiscipleMakers, to answer questions, to ask the prospective partner to contribute prayerfully and financially, and to ask for introductions to others.
Following up on appointments with prospective partners
Taking time to express thankfulness to prospective donors for meetings, referrals, and gifts.
Qualifications
Godly character, as evidenced by the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and an ongoing walk with God the Father through Jesus Christ.
A vision to make disciples of college students
Disciple-making experience and ability to represent the DiscipleMakers vision to its constituents.
A college education equivalent to bachelor's degree or higher
Membership (or active pursuit of membership) in a local church
Working Conditions:
Candidate Staff need to keep a flexible and open schedule to effectively schedule appointments and communicate with donors and other staff.
Candidate Staff may therefore be required to work most evenings and often on weekends.
Candidate Staff often travel significantly, to and from appointments, churches and donors.
